Fruity Green Smoothie

1/2 cup vanilla or plain yogurt
1/2 cup of Orange Juice or 2 fresh oranges peeled (Use fresh only in a Vita-Mix)
2 bananas
2 organic apples cored (any kind)
2 organic carrots trimmed and cut into 2-3 pieces
1/2 cup frozen or fresh strawberries
1/3 cup frozen wild blueberries
2-3 cups organic baby spinach leaves or substitute one cup with kale/endives/any greens
2-3 tsp flax seeds

Method

Place everything in order in the Vita-Mix. Blend for a minute till smooth. Press down the veggies with tamper if necessary. Makes about four servings for the four of us.
You can pretty much add any fruits you like in here like grapes and pineapples but these are the ones I usually stock. You could also add celery, broccoli, ginger……a certain someone adds peas to her smoothie. I haven’t tried that yet but I may one day.
I like my smoothies less cold in the winter and so I blend it till it reaches a more palatable temperature.

Seven and Seven Cocktail

A Seven and Seven (also known as a Seven Seven) is a mixed drink made with Seagram’s 7 whisky and 7 Up. It is typically served in a highball glass with ice. It is commonly made with 1 shot of whisky to 6 fluid ounces of 7 Up. A lemon garnish may complete the drink.

Serve: On the rocks; poured over ice in a collins glass

Ingredients:

1 shot Seagram’s 7 Whiskey
6 fl. oz. 7 up
Ice

Prep:
Pour whisky into Collins glass filled with ice. Fill to desired level with 7 Up. Stir lightly.

Three Wise Men

The name of the Three Wise Men cocktail is derived from the recipe, which blends three types of Whiskey together. Each brand usually included is named for its maker (the “wise men” of the title).

In a tumbler pour

1 part Scotch Whisky (e.g., Johnnie Walker Red or Black Label).
1 part Tennessee Whiskey (e.g., Jack Daniels).
1 part Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey (e.g., Jim Beam White or Black Label).

Prep:

Serve either neat or on the rocks, according to taste.

Bellini cocktail

A Bellini is an internationally well-known long drink cocktail that originated in Italy. It is a mixture of sparkling wine (traditionally Prosecco) and peach purée often served at celebrations. It is one of Italy’s most popular cocktails.

Serve: Straight up; without ice in a champagne flute

Ingredients:

2 parts dry sparkling wine
1 part fresh peach puree

Prep:

Pour peach puree into chilled flute, add gently sparkling wine. Stir gently

Buck’s Fizz

The Buck’s Fizz is an alcoholic drink made with orange juice and champagne. Some older recipes list grenadine as an additional ingredient, although the International Bartenders Association recipe does not include it.

Ingredients:

2 parts Orange juice
1 part Champagne

Prep:

Pour the orange juice into glass and top up champagne. Stir gently, garnish and serve.

Mimosa cocktail

A Mimosa is a cocktail-like drink composed of three parts champagne or other sparkling wine and two parts thoroughly chilled orange juice. It is traditionally served in a tall champagne flute with a morning brunch or to guests at weddings

Serve: Stirred in a champagne flute

Garnish: grenadine, cherries

Ingredients:

3 parts Champagne
3 parts orange juice

Prep:

Ensure both ingredients are well chilled, then mix together into the glass. Serve cold.

Cocktail Prince of Wales

Created to mark the Investiture of H.R.H Prince Charles as Prince of Wales.

Serve: Straigh up; without ice in a champagne glass

Ingredients:

1 part lemon juice
1 part Cherry brandy
1 strawberry
1 teaspoon sugar

Prep:

Blend and then pour into a champagne glass and fill with champagne.

Savoy Affair

Serve: straight up; without ice in a champagne cocktail glass

Garnish: a strawberry

Ingredients:

1 part lime juice
1 part Fraise de Bois liqueur
1 part passion fruite juice
1 part peach brandy

Prep:

Shake ingredients together with ice, and strain into a cocktail glass, and fill with champagne and garnish.

Spanish Tinto de verano

Tinto de Verano is a refreshing wine-based drink similar to sangria which is very popular in Spain. It is simpler than sangria, usually made up of 1 part red wine and 1 part a soda similar to Sprite, but less sweet.

Serve: on the rocks; poured over ice

Garnish: lemon slice

Ingredients:

1 part red wine
1 part la Casera (or mixture of Sprite & seltzer)

Prep:

Mix together and serve well chilled.
